Images can be printed with any photo viewer, but you would need something more if you wish to print an album, a collage or a catalog. Printstation can be used to prepare images for such operations. It allows you to customize your own layout, on different page formats and make various adjustments, to fit the photos according to your own preferences and to save as much paper as possible.

Printstation is free to try with some limitations. It works on Windows XP and all later editions and it can be installed fast, without any difficulties. The application does not ask for too much memory or processing power, so you can use it even on older computers.

The main user interface resembles a standard explorer window, but it displays more options and it shows only images, in various formats. Pictures are listed as thumbnails, in different groups, based on their formats. You can view images in full screen mode, play slideshows, use various selection tools and more.

Once you target one or more pictures, you may click a button, located on the program's toolbar, to send them to a layout editor, on a separate window. You can select different layouts, choose a page format, set it to portrait or landscape and customize your own photo format, on the left side of the window. Alternatively, you can select a page preset in a drop menu. The software allows you to set your images to portrait or landscape, but you can also select an option to arrange them automatically to save paper.

A page preview is available on the same window and you can move individual images, within their frames, adjust their zoom levels and swap them with images from other frames. Printstation comes with three output methods. The project can be printed, saved as an image or as a PDF document. You can make a few final adjustments, for each output method, on separate windows.

Pros

The application allows you to create and customize photo albums, collages, indexes and more. You can set up your own layout and arrange your images according to your own needs.

Cons

You can't move images on the page preview, by clicking and dragging. Professional photo albums, indexes or collages can be created as fast and easy as possible, thanks to Printstation's straightforward functionality.
